The film recently garnered a prestigious Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, an accolade awarded by a jury led by actress Maggie Gyllenhaal. el-Toukhy’s achievement is particularly noteworthy, as she was the only female director among the competitors at this year's festival, highlighting her prominent place in an industry that often struggles with gender representation.
