Western Midstream has unveiled plans to purchase Brazos Delaware II in a deal valued at about $1.6 billion. This acquisition is set to broaden Western Midstream's operational scope within the Delaware Basin, a prominent region for oil and gas production.
The agreement involves a considerable sum, with the purchase price including $1.5 billion in cash and an additional $130 million allocated for the repayment of Brazos' revolving credit facility, according to Yahoo Finance. This strategic investment underscores Western Midstream's commitment to strengthening its position in the energy sector.
The combined entity is projected to achieve notable financial benefits. Expectations include approximately $50 million in annual synergies, alongside an additional $20 million in capital expenditure savings. Such efficiencies are often a key driver behind strategic acquisitions of this scale.
Brazos Delaware II offers a significant asset base, including two cryogenic natural gas processing facilities. These facilities collectively boast a processing capacity of 460 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d). Furthermore, the infrastructure encompasses approximately 2,200 miles of natural gas gathering pipelines and around 65,000 horsepower (hp) of compression, vital components for midstream operations.
The acquisition also brings with it significant acreage dedicated to gas gathering. An estimated 390,000 dedicated acres across the Delaware Basin are part of the deal. This extensive coverage provides a robust foundation for future growth and operational expansion in the region.
This move by Western Midstream highlights a continued trend of consolidation and expansion within the midstream segment of the energy industry, as companies seek to optimize asset portfolios and enhance profitability through economies of scale and operational synergies.
