Disney XD Unveils New Animated Sports Fantasy Series, "Dragon Striker"

Disney XD recently presented the inaugural trailer for its anticipated animated series, "Dragon Striker," as reported by Variety. This new program is poised to merge the imaginative scope of European fantasy lore with the dynamic visual style characteristic of Japanese animation. The series centers on a protagonist named Kevin, a gifted soccer player who, despite his natural talent, finds himself without a team. His journey takes an unexpected turn when he encounters a legendary dragon, an event that sets the stage for a unique partnership. Together, they embark on a quest to establish the ultimate soccer team, aiming to triumph over the formidable Dragon Striker, a team currently holding an undefeated record in the sport. "Dragon Striker" is the creation of Frédéric Puech's Watch Next Media, with production overseen by the French animation studio, Blue Spirit. The series is directed by Benjamin Marsaud, and its narrative direction is guided by writer and story editor Eugénie Dard as well as producer and writer Paul McKeown. All eleven episodes of the initial season are slated to become available on Disney XD starting June 9. Following their linear broadcast, episodes will be accessible for streaming on both Disney+ and Hulu beginning June 10. This staggered release strategy provides viewers with multiple opportunities to engage with the new series. The premise suggests a vibrant blend of competitive sports action and fantastical storytelling, aiming to captivate audiences with its distinct visual presentation and an engaging storyline about teamwork and overcoming challenges. The combination of diverse animation influences points to an ambitious visual and narrative undertaking.
