The Portuguese equity market concluded the recent trading session in negative territory, as the PSI 20 index registered a notable decrease. This overall market contraction was influenced by weaker performances across various segments, including utilities, industrials, and financial services. Investors witnessed a widespread dip in share values for many of Portugal's leading corporations. Contributing significantly to the index's fall were several companies that posted considerable losses. Among these, Greenvolt Energias Renovaveis SA saw its stock price drop by 3.63%, closing at €7.44. Similarly, Navigator Company SA experienced a decline of 2.76%, with its shares settling at €3.89. EDP Renovaveis SA also contributed to the downward trend, as its stock shed 1.94% to close at €13.67, according to Investing.com. Conversely, a few companies managed to buck the trend and close with gains. Corticeira Amorim SGPS SA showed a modest increase of 0.86%, with its share price reaching €9.36. Ibersol SGPS SA also posted a positive performance, rising by 0.69% to €5.86. CTT Correios de Portugal SA marginally improved, with its stock price inching up by 0.25% to €4.05. The session saw 56 companies decline in value, while 20 advanced and 11 remained unchanged on the Euronext Lisbon exchange. Trading volume indicated a robust level of activity, with 26.66 million shares exchanged, totaling €158.41 million. The most actively traded options contracts were those for Portugal Telecom SGPS SA, experiencing a volume of 1,000 at a strike price of €0.30, and options for Galp Energia SGPS SA, with 40 contracts traded at a strike price of €13.00, expiring in March. The EUR/USD pair saw a slight uptick of 0.05% to 1.08, while the EUR/GBP held steady at 0.85.
