The live-action adaptation of "Masters of the Universe" is set to debut on Prime Video this summer, as reported by Variety. Enthusiasts of the classic franchise will be able to stream the film starting July 22. This streaming announcement follows a theatrical release that saw the movie struggle to attract a significant audience. Globally, the film generated approximately $113 million at the box office, a figure that did not meet projections for a major summer release. Based on the well-known universe first conceived by Mattel in 1982, the recent movie represents the second live-action cinematic interpretation of the popular intellectual property. The initial live-action film adaptation of "Masters of the Universe" was released in 1987, featuring Dolph Lundgren in the role of He-Man and Frank Langella as the villainous Skeletor. This newest iteration aims to reintroduce the fantasy world of Eternia and its iconic characters, including He-Man and Skeletor, to a contemporary audience. The move to a streaming platform offers a new opportunity for the film to find its viewership after its initial box office performance. Mattel's "Masters of the Universe" property has sustained a significant fanbase over several decades through various media, including toys, animated series, and comic books, cementing its status as a cultural phenomenon.
