According to reports from The Verge, Apple is poised to increase the cost of its extended warranty and support service, AppleCare Plus, for specific devices. Customers looking to purchase new coverage for their Mac computers and iPad tablets will soon face higher subscription fees. The adjustments will see monthly plans rise by 50 cents, while annual subscriptions will increase by $5. It is important to note that these new prices are slated only for those initiating new AppleCare Plus subscriptions. Existing plan holders will continue their coverage at their current rates, maintaining continuity in their service costs. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, cited by The Verge, provided details on the upcoming changes. For instance, a new two-year AppleCare Plus plan for a 13-inch MacBook Pro, which previously cost $279, is expected to increase to $299. Similarly, a three-year plan for the same device will see its price climb from $399 to $429. This pricing strategy suggests Apple’s intent to differentiate between its new and loyal customer base regarding service plan costs. The company frequently reviews its service offerings and pricing, reflecting market conditions and operational expenses. AppleCare Plus extends the standard warranty and offers accidental damage protection, which is a significant draw for many device owners. The service is particularly popular among users who rely heavily on their Apple devices for professional or personal use and seek additional peace of mind against unforeseen incidents. These reported changes indicate a slight but consistent adjustment across the affected tiers of service. The technology giant has previously adjusted pricing for various services and products, often citing improvements in service quality or rising operational costs. While these increases are modest, they contribute to the overall cost of ownership for Apple’s premium devices. Consumers considering new Mac or iPad purchases might factor these revised service plan prices into their overall budget planning. The official announcement from Apple regarding these price adjustments is anticipated.
