Dara Khosrowshahi, who heads Uber Technologies, has stepped down from the board of directors at Grab Holdings. This news comes as a venture capital entity, known to have connections with SoftBank Group, a prominent investor in Grab, recently made a substantial investment in the Southeast Asian technology company. According to Seeking Alpha, Khosrowshahi's departure from the Grab board was disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Tuesday. His resignation became effective last Friday, June 14. The venture capital firm, known as MVL, completed a $50 million investment in Grab at the end of May. MVL is linked to Masa Son, the founder of SoftBank. SoftBank is a major shareholder in Grab, having invested in the company's early growth stages. This board change occurs after Grab's shares have experienced a notable increase in value. Since the conclusion of May, the company's stock has risen by approximately 24%. This upward trend follows a period where Grab's stock had declined significantly since its public listing in December 2021, when it went public through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger. At the time of its market debut, Grab was valued at nearly $40 billion. The company, headquartered in Singapore, operates a diverse range of services across Southeast Asia, including ride-hailing, food delivery, and financial services. Its continued development in these sectors remains a key focus for its investors and leadership.
