The Mexican stock market concluded its trading session on an optimistic note, with key indices indicating substantial growth. According to Investing.com, the S&P/BMV IPC, a primary benchmark for Mexican equities, recorded an increase of 1.84% by the close of business.
Contributing to this upward momentum were several prominent companies whose share values saw considerable appreciation. Among the top performers, paper and packaging giant Kimberly-Clark de Mexico A surged by 4.07%, with its stock price settling at 37.64. The financial services sector also showed strength, as shares of Grupo Financos Inbursa O climbed 3.70%, reaching a value of 36.64. Conglomerate Orbia Advance Corp S.A.B. De C.V. also posted impressive gains, with its stock price advancing by 3.49% to 32.96.
Conversely, not all companies shared in the day's positive results. Some firms experienced decreases in their stock valuations. For instance, Gentera S.A.B. De C.V. shed 1.70% of its value, closing at 20.73. Regional transport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte B also saw a decline, with its shares falling by 1.62% to 153.05. Agricultural sector company Gruma B dropped 1.05%, with its stock price finishing at 296.88.
Market breadth was generally favorable, with a significantly higher number of advancing stocks compared to those that declined. On the Mexico Stock Exchange, over twice as many issues rose in value than those that fell, specifically 137 advanced versus 60 declined, while 17 remained unchanged. The CBOE Mexico Volatility Index, which gauges implied volatility of Mexican stock options, also saw a notable decrease of 6.27%, settling at 18.00. This drop in the volatility index often suggests a reduction in investor uncertainty.
Future contracts for gold, crude oil, and Brent oil all indicated upward price movements. Gold futures for December delivery increased by 0.38%, reaching $1,973.95 per troy ounce. Crude oil for November delivery saw a gain of 1.49%, trading at $84.28 a barrel, and Brent oil for December delivery also rose by 1.35%, reaching $86.06 a barrel.
