A new installment in the popular "V/H/S" horror anthology franchise is in development, drawing inspiration from the expansive online collaborative fiction known as the SCP Foundation. This upcoming feature, titled "V/H/S: SCP," will be a joint venture between Spooky Pictures, an independent genre film company, and Image Nation Studios, a global film and television production entity.
The project signifies the latest addition to the "V/H/S" series, known for its found-footage format. Notably, it also represents the first full-length cinematic adaptation of the rich and intricate mythology surrounding the SCP Foundation, a fictional organization dedicated to containing anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena. According to Variety, this collaboration aims to translate the unique storytelling approach of the online collective fiction into the "V/H/S" filmic style.
Veteran producer Roy Lee, recognized for his work on numerous horror projects, is producing the movie alongside Steven Schneider and Brad Fuller. Gary Binkow, who has a history with the "V/H/S" franchise, is also involved as a producer. The executive producer roles will be filled by David Worthen Brooks for Spooky Pictures, and Fiona Huang representing Image Nation Studios.
The SCP Foundation has cultivated a massive following through its user-generated content, which details various paranormal anomalies and the efforts to secure them. This vast repository of stories and creatures provides a wealth of material for adaptation. Integrating this extensive universe with the found-footage premise of "V/H/S" could offer a fresh perspective on both properties.
Previous films in the "V/H/S" series have showcased a variety of horror subgenres through their distinct segments, each presented as discovered video recordings. This established format appears well-suited to the episodic and dossier-like nature of SCP Foundation entries, potentially offering a mosaic of terrifying encounters within a connected narrative framework.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, the combination of these two distinct horror entities suggests a production poised to intrigue both long-time fans of the "V/H/S" films and enthusiasts of the SCP Foundation's intricate lore. The involvement of producers with extensive experience in the horror genre further underscores the anticipation for this new cinematic endeavor.
