OceanaGold recently disclosed encouraging outcomes from its latest drilling activities at the Haile gold mine in South Carolina, according to Yahoo Finance. The company emphasized several high-grade gold intercepts, suggesting a robust mineralized system within the property.
Key among the reported findings were drill holes at the Horseshoe and Palomino targets. At Horseshoe, one drill intercept revealed 26.6 meters grading 8.27 grams per tonne of gold, including a shorter, very high-grade section of 3.8 meters at 42.48 grams per tonne. Another intersection at Horseshoe yielded 14 meters at 6.13 grams per tonne of gold.
The Palomino target also showcased strong results, with one drill hole encountering 6.7 meters at 14.19 grams per tonne of gold, which included a 1.2-meter section grading an impressive 71.95 grams per tonne. These figures underscore the potential for discovering additional high-value gold deposits within the broader Haile site.
Exploration efforts focused on extending the known mineralization both down-dip and along strike from existing reserves. The company noted that the results from both the Horseshoe and Palomino areas are consistent with their geological models, indicating a continuation of the gold-bearing structures. This suggests that the current mine life could be extended through successful delineation of these new zones.
OceanaGold highlighted that the ongoing exploration program is strategically designed to translate these encouraging intercepts into updated resource estimates in the future. The firm expressed optimism regarding the prospects for expanding its operational footprint at Haile, which is a key asset in its portfolio. The success of this drilling campaign provides a strong foundation for future development and resource growth strategies for the company.
