Bitdeer Technologies Group, a prominent player in the digital asset mining sector, reported a significant uplift in its Bitcoin production for June. The company’s self-mined Bitcoin quantity saw an impressive increase, reaching 475 units during the month.
According to Yahoo Finance, this substantial growth represents a 388% rise compared to the same period in the previous year. The monthly production figure also climbed by 44% when evaluated against May's results, indicating sustained operational improvements and expansion. The total Bitcoin held by the company as of June 30th stood at 840.1 BTC.
Simultaneously, Bitdeer has been actively expanding its capabilities in high-performance computing, particularly focusing on artificial intelligence. The firm highlighted the ongoing build-out of its data center in Bhutan, which is expected to accommodate a substantial number of mining machines. This facility, projected to host up to 600 megawatts (MW) of power capacity, is slated for initial operations within the third quarter of 2024.
Further underpinning its strategic expansion, the company announced that its Gedu data center in Bhutan had achieved an operational capacity of 100 MW by the close of the second quarter. This marks a critical step in enhancing Bitdeer's infrastructure for both digital asset mining and AI-driven cloud services.
Bitdeer is also making strides in developing its AI cloud services. It has successfully deployed 1,600 graphics processing units (GPUs) dedicated to AI applications, with plans to activate an additional 3,200 GPUs in the near future. This initiative underscores the company's dual focus on cryptocurrency mining and the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence.
The firm's growth trajectory reflects the increasing demand for both computational power in blockchain networks and sophisticated infrastructure for AI development. As Bitdeer continues to scale its operations globally, particularly in regions like Malaysia and Bhutan, it aims to solidify its position as a diversified technology company in the digital economy. The strategic integration of Bitcoin mining with AI cloud services positions Bitdeer to capitalize on multiple high-growth technology sectors.
