On the broader New York Stock Exchange, declining issues outnumbered advancing ones by a ratio of 2008 to 835, while 70 stocks remained unchanged. On the NASDAQ, the disparity was even more pronounced, with 2528 stocks falling, 1699 advancing, and 125 remaining stable. The CBOE Volatility Index, often referred to as the market's fear gauge, edged up slightly by 0.37% to 12.18.
