Kandi Technologies, a China-based company known for its electric vehicle and powersports products, has been issued a non-compliance notice by the Nasdaq Stock Market. The alert, revealed on April 16, 2024, centers on the company's failure to maintain the mandated minimum bid price for its common stock.
According to Seeking Alpha, Nasdaq rules dictate that a listed security must uphold a closing bid price of at least $1.00 per share for a continuous period of 30 business days. Kandi Technologies' stock did not meet this criterion, prompting the official warning.
The electric vehicle manufacturer now has a window of 180 calendar days, extending until October 14, 2024, to rectify this situation. To regain compliance, Kandi Technologies' common stock must achieve a closing bid price of $1.00 or higher for a minimum of ten consecutive business days within this grace period. The exchange retains the discretion to extend this compliance period beyond ten days, up to a maximum of 20 business days, should it deem it necessary.
Should the company not satisfy the minimum bid price requirement by the October deadline, Nasdaq might grant an additional 180-day compliance period. This extension would be contingent on Kandi Technologies meeting specific eligibility criteria for continued listing, particularly regarding market value of publicly held shares or shareholders' equity, and informing the exchange of its intent to resolve the issue. If the company fails to qualify for the second compliance period, or does not resolve the deficiency within the initial or extended timeframe, Nasdaq will initiate proceedings to delist its securities.
Kandi Technologies' operations span the research, development, manufacturing, and sales of electric vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, utility vehicles, and related parts. Despite the recent notice, the company's ordinary share trading will persist on the Nasdaq Global Market under its current ticker symbol, "KNDI," throughout the initial compliance period. The notice from Nasdaq does not have an immediate impact on the company's business operations.
