Grid Metals Corp. and Avenir Resources Inc. have formalized a joint venture partnership, focusing on the Falcon West Cesium property situated in Manitoba. This strategic alliance, reported by Yahoo Finance, brings together the expertise and resources of both companies to further explore and potentially develop the valuable rare earth element deposit.
The agreement outlines that Avenir Resources Inc. can acquire up to a 75% interest in the Falcon West project. This acquisition is contingent upon Avenir meeting several conditions, including making cash payments totaling $750,000 to Grid Metals and incurring $2.5 million in exploration expenditures over a specified timeframe. These financial and operational commitments underscore Avenir's dedication to the project's advancement.
Initially, Avenir Resources will secure a 50% interest in the property by making $250,000 in cash payments and investing $1 million in exploration efforts within a 24-month period. Following this, the company has the option to increase its stake to 75% by providing an additional $500,000 in cash and spending another $1.5 million on exploration activities over the subsequent 24 months.
Grid Metals will retain a 25% interest in the Falcon West project and will benefit from a 1% net smelter return royalty on future production. This royalty provides Grid Metals with an ongoing financial interest in the project's success without requiring direct operational involvement once Avenir reaches the higher ownership threshold. The joint venture structure is designed to leverage Avenir's exploration capabilities while ensuring Grid Metals maintains a significant stake in any eventual discoveries.
The Falcon West Cesium project is recognized for its potential in rare earth element deposits, particularly cesium, a commodity with various high-tech applications. The collaboration between these two companies signifies a concerted effort to unlock the full economic potential of this Manitoba-based resource. Both firms anticipate that this partnership will accelerate the exploration timeline and pave the way for future development opportunities in the region.
